Munich Rest Day

I had been to Munich before and did not feel compelled to play tourist, particularly on such a gloomy, rainy day. I cannot complain about the rain, though. Better today than yesterday or tomorrow! Jerry had plans to visit the tourist office, and Happy wanted to try some classic Bavarian food. So off to Marienplatz and lunch at zum Spöckmeier. Happy got a weisswurst and pretzel, mit mustard, of course. I settled on a beef stew with spätzle. And we both had beer, of course. Several beer(s).

Beer, to warm the soul if not the body.

Happy's lonely weisswurst. There is a pretzel somewhere!

Afterwards, we wandered around a bit, taking in Marienplatz and doing some shopping. Shopping? That's very unlike me. But, given the weather we had experienced getting to Munich and the projection for tomorrow, I decided I should look for a pair of leg warmers! I last bought a pair with Happy in Savannah, Georgia when headed up the east coast. And here we were again, in SportScheck, doing the same thing, having left my other pair at home. I should know better! But I found something I thought would do, although not as good (from appearances) as my other pair, but a good investment nonetheless. Afterward, we wandered further west toward the hotel, spied a church further down the street that Happy wanted to visit, and made our way to Sankt Paul. Not much further but definitely past our hotel . . . but we still needed to walk off that beer after all.

Marienplatz and shopping.
