A Day in Paris

Well, I slept in, and much longer than I wanted or expected I would. I know I woke up much earlier but also know I drifted back to sleep. But I made up for it by taking the metro to Hotel de Ville to purchase some sock shoes as a present and then walking back to the apartment. The shoes are a special item that I have only seen in France. I have three pairs myself. These are for a friend back home.

Sock shoes made by Collegian.

From azag, the store where I purchased the shoes, I walked through Le Marais to Place de la Bastille and then to Gare de Lyon. There, I decided to divert and walk the Coulée verte René-Dumont for a short distance, an old elevated railroad alignment converted into an urban park.

I have never walked the Coulée verte René-Dumont. I've been under and around it and always wanted to but never did. So today was the day. Very beautiful, well maintained, and no trip hazards like the NY copy lol, which is an equally delightful experience. This one is older, however, dating to the early 1990s, and has a very Parisian feel to it.

Afterwards, I met Happy and Jerry for dinner at Chez Bruno, which is in Bercy Village, part of Cour Saint-Émilion. The latter consists of 42 warehouses that are the last of the Bercy storage areas that for over a century held the largest wine market in the world. Dinner was divine!

My appetizer, beef carpaccio.

And sea bass as my main course.
