Train to Carcassonne
I have a leisurely morning ride around Avignon before my 1pm train. My 25mm tires doesn't love cobblestones so much, so I just take it slow.

You can bring fully-assembled bikes on the TER trains in France, so I roll straight onto the train and settle in for the two-ish hour journey.
The vineyards disappear and turn into flatlands as the train runs along the rainy coastline. Getting into Carcassonne, it's drizzling as I get into my Airbnb. There's a washing machine, hurray! While the washer goes, I research the location of the different Cathar castles and plot potential routes in Komoot. There's going to be a lot of elevation change in the next few days. I suppose that I am dangerously close to the Pyrénées. I look up potential itineraries to get to Pays Basque. There's a named véloroute that tackles the foothills instead of snaking up and down through the Hautes-Pyrénées, so I can switch between that and more hilly roads depending on how the legs feel. And I should look for a bike shop in the next few days; my Di2 is at 30%.
Today's ride: 7 km (4 miles)
Total: 787 km (489 miles)
