Aix-en-Provence to Carpentras
It's a bear exiting Aix amongst all the morning traffic. I almost immediately ride into a fierce headwind. It's liberating and intimidating riding without a companion. Today, I've booked an Airbnb in Carpentras. I'll give Mont Ventoux a go. Did I train for it? Haha, not unless you count the past week.

As I cycle towards Carpentras, I start thinking about all the things I need to catch up on. My journal is hopeless chickenscratch, so I'll try to scramble my memory with my phone notes. I haven't been eating enough vegetables or fibre, so it'll be good to have access to a kitchen. And a washing machine to properly wash my clothes will be so nice.
Lost in my thoughts, I forget about lunch until my stomach starts complaining at L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, about 60km in. At this hour, there’s no more lunch seatings. I inhale a cold flan and coca. It's already the late afternoon, and the headwind still hasn't let up. I'm annoyed that I didn't wait to book my accommodation for tonight, because I want to stop now.
Finally, I make it to Carpentras. Oh, this place is nice. I immediately extend my stay by one more night, and head out to the grocery store. I make myself a nice salad for dinner and put on Emily in Paris Season 4 on the big TV. This is the life!
Today's ride: 86 km (53 miles)
Total: 580 km (360 miles)
