Guangzhou Chilling - Pandemic Purgatory - CycleBlaze

Guangzhou Chilling

After that epic bike ride, it was time for some much needed recovery.  I met Sophia at the airport as planned, and we then spent the time together on the weekend doing shopping, HIIT workouts, and the amazing Party Pier.  This is the best part of Guangzhou, it is a collection of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs that was reconverted from an old shipping pier.

If you haven't been to Party Pier in Guangzhou already, you'd definitely want to check it out.  It consists of endless restaurants, bars, and clubs.  The quieter ones are upstairs so you can have a conversation.  Zapata's restaurant and bar was the key reason for coming here. I have been a die-hard Zapata's loyalist ever since they opened in Shanghai 9 years ago and was absolutely crushed when they were forced to close that location in 2019.  The Guangzhou location still keeps the party rocking.

Sophia spotted this makeshift bar a few meters away from our hotel. We chatted with the owners to find out more information. It is a cafe by day, and a bar by night. We met a Chinese guy with his 'ex-girlfriend' who suddenly turned into his 'wife'. Whatever the case may be, these were fun people.

The time flew by way too fast, disappointingly so, because Sophia needed to get back to work the next day.  Still, for a weekend trip, this was top notch.
