It was another day riding up the beaches.  Most places in the area are so built up that there are only occasional glimpses of the ocean between the buildings.

There are numerous public beach access areas.

We saw another big demolition underway.

If the Sea Horn was your favorite place to stay at Myrtle Beach, this is not good news!

The original shopping district of Myrtle Beach.  The Gay Dolphin is the only place still there I remember from my childhood trips to the beach.

The famous Myrtle Beach Pavilion was demolished in 2006.  The local rides are all newer and bigger.

This is called the "Sky Wheel".

Riding north along Ocean Boulevard, we would pass through areas where there were only single-family homes.  We figure there are municipalities that have zoning laws to prevent the high rises.

Some homes were relatively modest

Most were larger - and there were a few brick homes.

In Cherry Grove, we stopped at Boulineau's convenience store.  We were very warmly welcomed by Ziggy, a Boulineau company director, who called Anna, the company's social media person.  They are going to post something about us on their Facebook page.  When we get a link, I'll share it on the blog.

Not far past Cherry Grove, we crossed over into North Carolina.  It will always feel like coming home to me.

Kerry here... Does this sign look familiar? It should, as it's in both the 2016 and 2019 journals. If you care to check, you'll find it hasn't aged well.

Jeanna & Kerry SmithTo Alain AbbateA bit surprising, isn't it? Those gentlemen in their pickups who had words for us yesterday seemed like the shoot at road signs type.
