Day 91 - Shipshewana, IN to Auburn, IN

Tailwinds!

Today was cycling Nirvana.  We had tailwinds all day, cool temperatures, quiet, low traffic roads, beautiful scenery and stores every ten miles for rest stops.  We never had a chance to get hot, tired or hungry.

The first half of the route, we continued through mostly Amish communities.  The farms were clean and well kept.   There were lots of cows and horses to see.

I got a distant shot of a farmer working with a team of four horses.  It's a little fuzzy because I had to crop it so much.

The first town we came to was Topeka.  This is an Amish community without the tourist presence of Shipshewana.  There were many people in town shopping and a livestock auction going on which drew a large crowd.

Buggies with trailers are a common sight, but this was an uncommon trailer. Most are simple wooden carts as seen on the right of this photo.

Amish women seem to enjoy planting colorful flowers around their homes and vegetable gardens.

I had to add some pictures of old barns, of course.

And, this beautiful much newer one.

We had a short few miles on a rail-trail called the Fishing Line Trail.  It was very wooded and rather dark, but a nice ride.

Just before we got on the trail, we passed this large old barn where a young couple was having photos taken.  Engagement pictures, maybe?

A picture of people taking pictures.

The trail ended just outside the town on Kendallville.  We took a little detour through town and saw this interesting building.

We also took a ride along the town lake before heading on to Auburn.  I didn't get a very good picture of it.

And one more scenic view before we end for today.
