Day 100 Campbellton, NB

After a good breakfast at the lodge, we were looking forward to an easy 31 mile day.  It was 31 miles, but it wasn't easy.  A stiff headwind made the climbs difficult.  We used "four on the floor" three times today - all on grades over 10%.  We've found that Ride with GPS underestimates grades.  When it shows 7-8%, we know to be prepared for a really steep hill.  I think if it weren't for the headwind, we would have ridden up all the grades, but the in-your-face wind was too much those few times.

Seen along the road today...

Houses with colorful trim are popular here. Blue is the most common color used, but this bright yellow is very happy.

As we get nearer to Campbellton, the bay becomes narrower and Gaspe is closer.

Gaspe is across the water. Those hills are the reason we're not going to ride the peninsula!

It looks as if the tide is going out.

Entering Campbellton - must be a big sport fishing place!

A better view of the bridge to Quebec. We'll not be going over that bridge when we leave. We'll be on the New Brunswick side for about twelve more miles.

It seems as if we just had a day off, but it's been five riding days.  Tomorrow is a rest day.  I don't know what we'll do, but it won't involve climbing hills!

Today's ride: 31 miles (50 km)
Total: 3,773 miles (6,072 km)
