Only 3000km to go

Mildura to Renmark

Today it really felt like we are making progress. We unexpectedly rode 137 km and crossed the state border into South Australia. This means that there are only two more states to cross. About 1000km done. Only 3000km to go.
We arrived in Renmark by 4:30 pm after a
137 km pleasant, wind free treadle from Mildura.

It’s dry country

Broad acre, semi-arid cropping. Very sandy soils here.

Joel dons his border crossing formal wear. The bow tie. Ian had already crossed an hour or so ahead of us.

Me very pleased we’ve completed 25% of the ‘Against the Wind’ fundraising ride by Day 10.

Very pleased to be able to have a pub meal and catch up with former work colleague Wayne Champion. Wayne is a recreational cyclist and marathon runner and gave us some very helpful navigation tips for the next few days riding.

John SaxbyLoved the Renmark pelican & the sunset, Graham - brilliant! Thought of your trek as I did a couple of local rides east & west along the south bank of the Ottawa River -- brisk northwesterly headwinds both days, up to 60 km/h ☹️ Carry on -- not sure the cyclist's wish of "tailwinds" has much weight, but never mind -- tailwinds, John

Graham SmithTo John SaxbyHi John
Thanks for following this ride. It feels as if we are making some progress now. The countryside is distinctively different in this part of Australia. The combination of aridity and the big river is interesting.
Great you have been out on the bike.
