Getting ready
I had originally planned to bike SF to LA in 2020, but Covid cancelled those plans. I decided to try another tour in 2021 as things were gradually opening up again.
I saw a listing on the Adventure Cycling companions wanted page about someone planning to ride the TransAmerica Trail starting in May. I reached out to them and had a few Zoom meetings with a group that had all expressed interest.

We're all from different states/countries and none of us have met in-person before, but we'll be meeting in-person for the first time at the beginning of the ride.
I’ll be using a Salsa Vaya GRX bike with Ortlieb panniers, brooks saddle, kitchen sink handlebars with profile design aero bars, and flat pedals. Tent is a dragonfly 2P and thermarest sleeping pad.
Got a cardboard box from a bike store and packed my bike. Shipped it off through UPS to an REI store in Virginia which I’ll pickup.
