Descended Vesuvius (3,200 ft elevation) and ate some much-needed sandwiches at a store at the bottom called Gertie's. Some local cyclists we had passed recommended it.
A kind family from Virginia hosted us at their home for dinner, to stay overnight, and breakfast. They have 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 5 horses. We found them through warmshowers.org, an online hospitality exchange for touring cyclists.
