Day 0 - Virginia Beach
Flew into Virginia and met up with Missy from Chicago and Clinton from Virginia who I had met online and would be two of people I’d be riding with.
Went to REI to pickup my bike that I had shipped. Paid to have them assemble it since they had the tools on hand, but then ironically had to partially disassemble it to get it to fit into Clinton’s car.
Stopped by the Colonial National Historical Park Yorktown, the site of the final battle of the Revolutionary War. They had a registry and pin for anyone who biked across Virginia. Even though we hadn't done it yet, we signed our names and got our pin since we would be doing it in the opposite direction.
Back at Virginia Beach we did a shakedown ride and dipped our wheels in the Atlantic Ocean. Pushing the loaded bikes in the sand was very challenging.
