Day 10 Ione WA to Priest River ID

Today when we woke it was 43° out and by afternoon it was over 90°. Luckily we haven’t hit the humidity yet. Seeing we were up early as we wanted an early start and the breakfast didn’t start till 7 AM, Hubs decided we would eat one of those freeze dried breakfasts. Well, numb nuts that  he is, he started the camp stove in the motel room and set off the alarm. When he went to fan it off he knocked it out of the ceiling. Lo and behold, he did get the breakfast made and was able to put the detector back so all was good. We left the Riverview Motel a bit after 7. It was a chilly start but a beautiful morning. We had to pass over a grated bridge and then take a right. A bit down the road they were paving so even though it was just us we had to wait for the pace  car to come. So maybe 15 minutes later we were on our way. We did not have any big climbs today but there was quite a bit of rolly hills. We actually followed the Pend Oreille River the whole way. The river is 55 miles long and nice and wide. It looked like glass. As we were merrily rolling along, we could see another biker coming from the opposite direction. It was a solo woman. We stopped and chatted for quite sometime. She comes from Switzerland and her name is Karin and is here visiting a friend in Colorado. He didn’t want to do a bike trip so she left Colorado by herself and was heading to Seattle. I give her Huge Kudos for being out there alone. We asked her if she uses warm showers and she said no. She knows  all about the organization but feels guilty using it. She does all camping. We exchanged info as she did invite us to her place in Switzerland and who knows we may surprise her. She also warned us about dogs that have come out after her and oh yes, we had them after us also. I hope she has a great rest of her adventure. As lunch time approached we saw a spot with a picnic table so we decided to dine there. We had our famous PB&J wraps as we always have them on hand. After lunch we continued on and again entered an Indian Reservation. We went by an Indian Tribe Headquarters and saw a couple of Indian Burial grounds. We continued on and saw this building collapsing and they always intrigue me so I had to get a picture. We also came by this body of water that looks like it won’t be for long as some vegetation seems to be sucking it dry. At one point I was ahead of Hubs and happened to see this guy get out of his car and open the back of it and take something out. As I got closer I see running water coming out of this pipe. I asked him if it was from a spring and was it cold and he said yes. So we stopped and filled out bottles with some nice refreshing cool water and went on our way happy. Then came the moment that we said goodbye to Washington state and hello to Idaho. We also passed a hydro electric place so needed a picture. As we pedaled on we saw a sign stating that we all water craft had to stop and be checked. As we pulled in to

This is the place we stayed in Ione WA

investigate, a woman was leaving with her kayak so when they say ALL watercraft they mean it. The reason is to check to make sure you don’t have any vegetation or invasive species attached to the watercraft. If all is good you will get a sticker. After that we finally arrived at our motel. After checking in and getting our room number, I notice the Big Boys and of course need a picture parked with them. Then I just took a few pics of the motel as we walked to get dinner and our Just Rewards. Tomorrow we head Sandpoint ID. Should be a short ride but keep your 🤞🤞as they never seem to be.

Today's ride: 55 miles (89 km)
Total: 3,160 miles (5,086 km)
