Paris Day 1
Ah, we were tired. We were up till midnight last night, having dinner with friends. So we slept in this morning. Till 10:20 AM! But Mark was OK with that, and so was I (as long as he was). We both needed to catch up on our sleep, as we hadn't arrived at the hotel yesterday early enough to get in the nap we wanted. So jet lag had to be addressed!
We finally made it out of the hotel close to noon and made straight for food at the Café République across the square.
Next stop: Eiffel Tower. Fortunately, we were on the M9 line with a straight shot to Trocadero, which is right across the river and a great visual for Mark's first eyes on the Parisian landscape.
From there, we wandered over to the Arc de Triomphe, strolled down the Champs-Élysées, visited the Place de la Concorde, walked the Tuileries, stopped by the Louvre, and then settled into a well-deserved and excellent meal in the Marais at a place we stumbled onto hidden down a side street, Le Hangar. The food was excellent.
So here are some pictures:

We did not make it back to our hotel until close to midnight! It had been a long day. We had walked about 9 km, over 5.5 miles! And we still need to get our body clocks adjusted!
