I stayed on Euro Velo 1 most of the way. The terrain is fairly flat, but I had a headwind most of the time.

I saw nearly 2 dozen other bicycle tourists. Nearly all of them had the wind at their back as they headed South.

Heading North was however my best long term strategy: I want to visit Northern Europe during summer, when it's most comfortable.
