Day 80 - July 22 - Troutdale, OR Rest Day

Lazy Day

John’s Story

Yes, it was a lazy day. More or less hemmed in by highways, railroad tracks and one way frontage roads, we either walked or Ubered wherever we went. Here Ed is reliving his days on the farm by trying to milk his bike.

No, I don’t know what this is, but it may be emblematic of Gresham, Oregon.

We did find a brewery near the church where we went to Mass. Not sure if these folks are allowed to donate blood.

Lebanese restaurant for dinner. Perhaps not the caliber of Fakhreldine on Hyde Park in London 20 years ago, but tasty nonetheless. Sorry to see that Fakhreldine has permanently closed.

We will bypass downtown Portland in the morning and head to Scappoose. Should be no hills of consequence. A quiet Sunday ride.

Ed’s Story

Short entry today. Really didn’t do anything!

Cleaned our bikes and verified bolts tight. Front disc brakes were squeaky so cleaned the rotor with mud to get off any debris (based on internet review). Test ride around motel showed squeaking gone. We’ll see on ride tomorrow.

Read…watched Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix…napped.

Went to church; a brewery; then dinner ar a Lebanese restaurant.

Back to the hotel, then bed.

Only about 40 miles to Scappoose where we meet our sister Dorothy and her husband John at the RV park.

Other than that, it was just a very lazy today. It was a good thing there was nothing close or we might have done more stuff.

Until tomorrow, happy biking!

Now this is what’s called a rest day!
