From Fulda to Bad  Hersfeld - Three Reasons for Riding Across Europe - CycleBlaze

From Fulda to Bad  Hersfeld

This R1 cycle route is once more very good and well signed so we had little trouble following it, There was a small amount of hill just out of Fulda then after that it was flat or slightly down hill, so I was a real whimp finding things so difficult in the last half of the day. The route follows the Fulda river and for the most part it is well shaded. There are numerous very neat small towns - most of them without services and the route doesn't go through them. We did take a detour Schlitz which as well as being a pretty town had the most amazing and huge bakery, doing a roaring trade. After that it was a slog to get here through what is beautiful countryside which I am afraid was largely wasted on me. The hotel was easy to find but without AC it is very hot.

We have made a plan for tomorrow which again is forecast to be hot. We will only go as far as Rotenburg which is only about 25 km away and do it early
