It’s all downhill to Vienna.... Not!! - Tally Gals Bike Adventures - CycleBlaze

It’s all downhill to Vienna.... Not!!

Little towns, farmland, grapes, and the abbey

Started the day with an invigorating 500 ft descent from Maria Taferl down to the Danube featuring 12 and 18% grades.  We had a long morning stop in Melk to visit Melk Abbey and gardens.

Tip of the day: when you have a beautiful sunny day with temperatures that are just right, enjoy it to the fullest! Today was one of our best days for riding. Great scenery, some climbs, but they were manageable and just challenging enough. The reward at the top was a great view or another interesting old town to explore.

The old town part of Melk looks remarkably similar to the way it has looked for many years.

Walking down to the old town from the abbey.

Then it was back on the bikes for a wonderful ride through farmland, along the Danube and through tiny one street towns with interesting old buildings. We also saw several ruins along the way.
