Through the undulating Swiss countryside

We were serenaded by alphorns this morning as we ate our breakfast and then we were off on our bikes headed for Gstaad. We rode 33.6 miles and climbed 2700 feet. A slightly shorter, and somewhat less hilly, route than yesterday but still quite a workout for these florida girls. We have nothing like these hills at home. We rode through beautiful countryside, undulating green fields with a backdrop of snow capped mountains. It was gorgeous again and the rain held off, we stayed dry.  When we got to Gstaad we headed up the chairlift to get a great view of the mountains and hiked up even further chasing views of snowcapped mountains. It was beautiful, pictures can’t capture the greatness of what we saw but some of them come close.

Jane FletcherDon’t know but it seems to be part of the traditional costume. The other group we saw was also wearing them.

At one point the route took us off a busy road and down a gravel path that took us to this grassy path then right back to the busy road…. Hmmmm……

greta combsThese little villages crouched down between mountains reminds me of Eastern Ky. (except the mountains there are three times as high as ours!)

There are lots of these fountains throughout Switzerland. We understand that the water in them is good to drink
