Day 10

Posted June 12:

We thought this day would be relatively easy but it turned out to be a really hard day. The first half of the day was not so bad but the last climb, the ride up to Sacramento Summit, really kicked our asses...I mean... ...oh, what the heck, it was a real ass kicker!

It's a hard climb to begin with, and on top of that it was hot, with a monster head wind. I hit long stretches at 4 mph, it seemed to go on forever. In fact, this was the prelude to our "night ride" (see "night 10") and I think influenced our decision on that--we were already tired and wanted to minimize the pain from Baker to Milford.

...still, as usually through Nevada, this one was high on beautiful scenery.

It's hard to see but if you look close you can see Fred between two trees on the curve
