Leaving Shanghai

It was a hectic exit that started with a 6am OrangeTheory workout at my studio which just had to be a mile benchmark run.  This mile run was accomplished in 6 minutes and 24 seconds which was a very positive achievement.  Not long after that I headed to work and finished off some key semester-end tasks before bouncing.

Lots of testing

It was a mad scramble to get to the train station on time in China, as it usually is.  I had a short ride booked from Shanghai to Wuxi.  After that, in theory, I'd get a taxi to the Wuxi airport and be on my way.  However, things had changed in that there were so few cabs available at the train stations anymore because now everyone was booking them using the phone apps.  The security guard was pretty useless.  He just said, "Use your phone to book a taxi" which I did and the time wasted caused me to panic that I'd miss my flight.  Fortunately it all worked out and I was able to chill out for a bit and pay a few last minute bills at my house with my girlfriend's help.

Then it was a nice business class flight to Guangzhou that was truly enjoyable for the 2 hours or so.  Once in Guangzhou, the weather warmed up considerably and it was easy to find my hotel with the metro system where I then chilled out for a bit and caught a nap before hitting an InterNations social event.  That in itself was awesome, but it was different from the events I would attend in Suzhou and Shanghai that required you to go up and get your wine.  Here, they'd come to you and keep refilling the glass.  I got so drunk by the end of it and can't even remember getting a cab back to the hotel, and the next day was quite a nasty hangover.

Now we're flying in style
