Day 9, Windsor Locks to East Canaan, Connecticut

start with breakfast by the airport, climb and descend, B & B

We expect to get to East Calann, CT to a Bed & Breakfast. .... made it about 5 pm. It was a good ride relatively shallow climbs. I need to get off and push only twice and it was a short distance.

A couple of days ago we passed into Rhode Island from Massachusetts and this was the only sign to indicate we crossed the border except that the road was much more improved.

We crossed many rivers/creeks/brooks like this. Most are at the bottom of a hill, which means we use the momentum from one hill to get a good start onto the next.

Barkamsted Reservore. Earthen dam built during 1935 - 1940. That's Rich from Virginia coming to tell us the story of the dam.

We stopped for lunch at a little market in Pleasantville, just west of the dam, where Sandy, a delightful middle aged woman) fixed us each a subway sandwich. I asked Sandy if she would fill my water bottles, and she washed them out first. Very kind.
