We decided to do a 60 miler today so we could get to the Ashford Motel in the Union area of northern Connecticut.  We thought we would be at the motel by mid afternoon....   WRONG.  The morning went fine with only one severe climb (where I get off my bike and walk because it's just as fast as riding. (Usually 10% grade and up). The first 20 miles or so, we averaged about 10 mph in Mass. Rhode Island had nice wide roads reasonble climbs until we were close to leaving and entering Connecticut.  We rode about 45 minutes, about 5 or 6 miles in the northwest corner of Rhode Island.

Then it started raining in earnest soking us to the bone and we climbed no fewer than 10 climbs of double digit % grade.
