Travis and I took off before 7 a.m. this morning and had an enjoyable ride on Omaha trail leaving town to the North. We new it would be a long ride and the temperatures were going to be in the 90s with triple digit heat index. The good news was that the wind was either at our backs or side all the way north. The morning ride was very enjoyable with bearable temperatures. Later in the day and the ride, it got really hot and because the wind was at our back, we didn't get much air movement around our bodies. We were riding and very nice gravel roads on the flat, but it was slow going until we got to Scribner where we layed down in a small park for a while and then went to a little grocery store with air conditioning to get a few items for dinner in our room later. It was invigorating and we got advise about riding on the highway. We took the advice and rode the rest of the way to West Point on the highway (divided highway) with very smooth wide shoulders and courteous truck drivers that pulled into the left lane when they passed.
Finally made it to our hotel at 7 p.m. Shower, charge devises, laundry, dinner of canned pork and beans on a tortilla, reserve hotel in Norfolk tomorrow, Blog, bed time. ZZZZZZ
