Day 1 of the epic adventure or TOUGH DAY!

Left Portland, ME, 15 mph head wind , long day, great Warm Showers hosts

It was a day of bike paths mixed with City streets, bridges, and moving out to the coastline without seeing the ocean very often. We had 15 mph headwinds most of the way.

It took 9+ hours to go less than 60 miles averaging 8 1/2 mph.

Bottom line: We were whipped at the end of the ride.

We finished at Avery's house (Warm Showers) and were taken in like family by Avery's mother, Alison, Avery, and Griffon. ... wonderful people and sumptuous food, plus a special trip for Ice Cream at the Scoop Deck in Moody/Wells. Thank you to our first Warm Showers family.

We started down town Portland by the Ferry Station

The Portland Headlight lighthouse in Fort Williams Park

One of the few beaches along the Maine coastline. This one is right by an amusement park.
