To near Alpine 13 - Stan's Excellent Cross Country Ride 2025 - CycleBlaze

To near Alpine 13

Pretty nice temperatures this morning.  Rode out with two Johns.. We had a long debate about how much ascent there would be. The answer ranged from 4k to 7k feet. The wind was coming down the mountain most of the way to Tecate Pass over 3500 ft.

I'm standing in the bathroom at the campground.  Charging my phone.

We struggled our way up the climb and some other climbs. It was a long day  and a long way.  The end result was 6k feet; possibly the most feet per mile of any ride I've been on.

There was dinner at a restaurant before we disperse tomorrow with certificates and stuff. It was Bennie's birthday too.

I'll have more time ⌚ tomorrow and Tuesday to post.

Today's ride: 59 miles (95 km)
Total: 3,139 miles (5,052 km)

Nancy WrightYou’re almost done! I had figured that the ride would end in San Diego today (Monday). Did you feel the earthquake?!? The epicenter of it was in the town of Julian, where we stayed in 2019 the day before finishing in San Diego. It seems like you just started in St. Augustine! Time flies when you’re having fun (sounds like something Johnny G would say…) Anyway, it was fun to follow your journey and remember places seen along the way!πŸ˜€πŸ¦πŸ€πŸ‘πŸŒ΅πŸŒ²πŸ¨πŸ©πŸ¦πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

stan rosenstielTo Nancy Wrightyes. finished the 14th. We heard some rumbling and then there was an alert on the phone about the tremor. didn't feel it.
Glad you were able to relive your trip. We followed a lot of different roads and stayed at different places than I did 10 years ago.
