carrollton

Temps were projected to get to 90 or so. Although it would be a short day we wanted to get an early start to get in ahead of the heat. Ride with GPS suggested there would be 1200 to 1400 ft of climbing.

The first part of the ride was along an old canal towpath. Some was paved, some was rough, some was firm unpaved. Quite a few birds were calling. Philadelphia Vireo(?), Acadian Flycatcher(?).

soon after leaving the towpath the first climb went to 10% grade. There were quite a few more 10% and a lot over 7%. This was a real change from rail to trail which rarely go over 1%. The total was more like 2600 ft of climbing and the heat made it tough for a few of the riders.

I finally figured out how to close my Ez Pass tollway transponder and went to the post office to ship it out.

NOthing lost or broken and no flats.

Today's ride: 35 miles (56 km)
Total: 1,287 miles (2,071 km)
