Day 5 - Luray

Day 5 -Waynesboro to Luray via Shenandoah, VA, was a beautiful route through mostly farmlands that include continual views of the Shenandoah Mountains.
My route out of the busy downtown was relatively uneventful with low traffic. The roads passed through nicely groomed and quite neighborhood opening up into rural valley farmlands. The terrain was flat to rolling and passed through a couple small villages or towns. There were an occasional convenience stores to refuel, but not any real food opportunities.
(Note: Overnight opportunities were limited. Warmshowers opportunities were in Waynesboro and just south of Grottoes, VA. The Google bike route to Shenandoah and Luray avoided Hwy 340 and that was appropriate. That road is busy and offers inconsistent shoulders.)
