To Elgol

Astonishing - full sun all day, for our first day on Skye.  We caught the 9:45 ferry for Armadale,  biked 17 miles along the south coast to Broadford, and then west on a singletrack road to Elgol.  The Elgol route was gorgeous, with spectacular views of the Black Cuillans and a very photogenic church ruin by the wayside.  En route we stopped for a midday snack at a small cafe, eating on a picnic bench in the warm, balmy sun with a beautiful mainland/bay backdrop.

After checking in to our inn (the Coruisk Inn & Fishouse), we left for a 3 hour hike up the north coast and back, enjoying still more great views of the Cullins the entire way.  It was amazing to get to see them under a cloudless sky.

Dinner at the hotel was delicious.  We split orders of steak and turbot; and then split desserts of sticky pudding and ice cream.  Today, for the first time, it feels as though the balance of weather for the tour has tipped in our favor.

Today's ride: 35 miles (56 km)
Total: 602 miles (969 km)
