Day 5-Dana Point to San Elijo State Park 44 mi

Today was the exact opposite of yesterday. We had good 27 miles of great
tail wind, no traffic...really none. You hit a bike trail coming out of Dana Point that is separated from the hwy by cement walls. Then you travel on to San Clemente do NOT follow the bike signs toward the beach...takes you on a dirt ( ok for us with our Surly's) path shared by walkers. You will come to a bridge and you will see the sign below...walk! You are then able to ride again a short way then because of traffic walking again. Once back on the bike path heading through neighborhoods it is a great ride. You then travel through a State Park and then Camp Pendelton for 10 miles. All in all a great ride.

Believe it...a bike path where there is a fine to ride your bike! Do NOT take the beach bike path in San Clemente.
