Day off #2 in Victoria, BC

Butchart Gardens

After breakfast we spent several hours at Butchart Gardens, a 35 minute drive from our hotel. I’m glad we opted to drive because the road up and down from the gardens was very narrow with no shoulder and heavily traveled. Here is a small selection of the many photos we took:

Upon returning to Victoria, we walked to a pharmacy to buy the double strength Voltaren gel that isn’t available in the US. Across the street was a fun locals restaurant where we ate a late lunch.

After a bit of down time we headed out for a late dinner, and then took a stroll to look at some of the government buildings dressed up with lights.

While we have been here in Victoria we have seen several horse drawn carriages around the downtown but yet, the streets are absolutely clean; no droppings.

If you look closely you can see the box below the horses tail designed to catch any droppings, a kind of horsey diaper.

Tomorrow we leave Victoria for Sidney, where we catch the ferry to Tsawassen.

Steve Miller/GrampiesHope you are aware of, and are planning to ride, the Lochside Trail up to the ferry. It is a scenic, and mostly off road, route north to Sidney.
