Rest Day in Salerno: Side Trip to Paestum

A well-deserved rest day that we mostly spent in Paestum, departing on the train at 9:35 AM and returning close to 4:00 PM.

The Doric Temple of Athena.

The Temple of Neptune (but believed now to be to Apollo).

The Temple of Hera.

The Amphitheater.

The site is vast. Looking back at the Doric Temple of Athena.

We were hungry and grabbed lunch at one of the pizza joints nearby. My first beer of the trip!

And my first pizza of the trip! Not bad for being near a tourist site!

And the train ride back to Salerno!
