A Day in Rome

Today is the last Sunday in the month, and museums are free on that day. So we took advantage of the proximity of the Vatican to tour the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel and walk through St Peter's. Last time I saw the Sistine Chapel, it was still under restoration.

St Peter's Basilica.

It opened at 9:00, and we were in line by 9:15. It was already a good 10 blocks long!

And, of course, afterward, we had lunch.

OMG, anchovies! One of my few ordering errors! I did try them, but Mark ate the bulk of this course.

After lunch we napped a bit and then tackled packing the bikes. That took maybe 1-1/2 hours.

The Cannondale in pieces.

Into the box. The hotel staff were super nice and very bike-friendly. The boxes were exactly where and as we had left them three weeks prior.

Ready for final taping. We saved that for Monday just in case we thought to add something (and we did). Our flight was not till Tuesday, so we were in good shape.

Time for a beer. Off to Campo de' Fiori to meet Amanda and Tano.

Sunset over the Vatican on the way to drinks and dinner at Campo de' Fiori.

After that filling dinner, we walked back to our hotel to work it off a bit and then put ourselves to bed for the night!
