Like birds escaping their gilded cage we left the Villa del Soie. The 'Road of Terror' was not nearly as bad on a Sunday morning and with all our relective gear on and lights flashing we took off at high speed. It was only 3km to the Hotel Mary so that was over in a flash and the bikes secured and resting for their final time. Yes we have done it!! We have followed the rivers, Ken has seen lots of old tractors, we have drunk lots of coffee (and some beer and wine), we are fitter and a little thinner, we have ridden 3821km, Ken's health problems of earlier this year seem a life time away, we have met so many kind and generous people, have learnt a lot and have had so much fun - we are indeed extremely lucky.

All that remains is to pack up our bikes and to fly home and of course we have to dream up a bike ride for next year. In the meantime we will make the most of being tourists in Venice. II will write a bit about the various routes we have been on but not today.
