Say 6: St Charles, MO to Greenville, IL
The Hardest Day Yet
Today was a doozy. The 3D printed buffer for my front rack didn’t work, so I ended up using one of Richard’s Bungee cords and in combination with mine it holds my bag on there pretty good.
I finished the last 30 miles of the Katy Trail today. It had some of the busiest parts and the quietest. Overall, it wasn’t too bad, there was just limited resources for the last 20 miles.
After that, I rode to the Clark bridge and crossed the Mississippi. It had a bike lane, but was not a particularly enjoyable ride. It spit me out in Alton, IL, where I thought would be a good idea to eat lunch. It was not… pretty sketchy area, so I got out of there as quick as I could. I began my trek to Edwardsville via the MCT, a county trail. Eventually I ended up on a big shoulder heading into town. I stopped at the SIUE baseball field to get some water, and Kyle helped me out. The people I met (besides in Alton) were all very nice today. I rode some trail and some country road out of Edwardsville and into Grantfork.

After that, it was mostly smooth sailing to Greenville. Just a lot of miles. And a bit of a rough start to the day. But hey, I made it, and Rodney’s Garage is pretty sweet!
Today's ride: 86 miles (138 km)
Total: 283 miles (455 km)
