Day 20: Ripley to Silver Creek

My Last Day on the Saddle

This morning, Michael made pancakes for us to enjoy before I got moving. I was quick to pick up and start making progress. After a while, I ended up getting brunch since the pancakes didn’t fill me up too much and stopped at a cute old diner!

They had lots of funny old signs

A couple that sat next to me at the counter loved my story and wished me luck while I pedaled! I turned off of the main roads since I hadn’t loved that experience the last couple of days and stayed on the county roads. These would eventually lead me to the town of Fredonia, where my girlfriend went to college.

Everyone gets photos here but wasn’t busy, campus was dead!

I explored a couple of the spots she had shown me when I visited before, and it was great to finally be somewhere familiar after 3 weeks. It wouldn’t be long after this that I made it to my last destination via bicycle, a little bed and breakfast.

I got cleaned up and waited for my friend Cameron to arrive. Once he did, we caught up a bit and headed out to see the sunset.

We grabbed dinner and headed back to the B&B. They had complimentary hot chocolate so we had some and sat on the sunroom and played cards. It was a fantastic evening. And with that, my journey via bicycle is over. I will still update you tomorrow, as Cameron and I are going to see Niagara Falls and do some more, but thank you very much for reading and following my journey. It has had a lot of ups and downs, but the people I’ve met were consistently kind and caring.

“It’s not about the destination. It’s about the friends you meet along the way.” - Michael Espinola

PS, I recorded my entire trip with my GoPro and I plan to make a travel vlog. This will take me a long time to edit, but don’t forget about my journal, because once I’m done I will post about it here so you can relate even further!

Today's ride: 43 miles (69 km)
Total: 1,125 miles (1,811 km)
