Day 11: Indianapolis to Connersville
Making Progress
I said goodbye to Marco and his dogs and headed out just after 8 this morning. I got a healthy serving of biscuits and gravy at FlapJacks, then followed a route Marco gave me to get out of Indianapolis. I saw downtown Indy, and it honestly seemed pretty peaceful in comparison to other large cities I’ve been through. Maybe it’s because the Pacers won game 1 last night. Plus they had a lot of great trail to use as opposed to being in a bike lane next to traffic. I then stopped at a bike shop downtown to see if they had front racks that fit my bike, and guess what!
I was finally able to have all my bags where I wanted them. And I had already ridden 30 miles today without even noticing. The guys at the bike shop recommended a place in Greenfield for lunch called The Depot. It was solid, and it fueled me to charge through with the rest of my day. I wanted to stop in Rushville, but they didn’t have a campground, so I knew I had a long way to go. Luckily, the back roads were mostly paved and not busy! Once I got closer to Connersville though, it started to get hilly. I still managed to eventually reach my campground though, and I set up under the pavillion due to incoming rain tonight.
Hopefully the rain lets up tomorrow and the route isn’t too hilly! If everything goes to plan I’ll finish the day in Ohio!
Today's ride: 80 miles (129 km)
Total: 600 miles (966 km)
