A really great ride today. Saw a little of everything. The first 20 miles or so were on 101 which generally has generous shoulders most of the time. Then off 101 to the small coastal town of Trinidad for lunch with Nate and Erin. A steep climb out of Trinadad and from above we watched several surfers trying to catch the perfect wave and watched sea lions as well. We also saw a large herd of elk and then rode through some beautiful fertile farmland. After 3 nights of camping it was time for a hot shower and real bed in Eureka.

The climbing at times is relentless but I definitely feel my legs getting much stronger. After struggling to make 40-50 miles the first week I have covered an average of about 57 the last 6 days. One of the two biggest climbs was out of Crescent City yesterday and the other one is near Leggett either Sunday or Monday.

Today's ride: 53 miles (85 km)
Total: 790 miles (1,271 km)
