Touchdown in Manchester

Reassembled and Cycle to Wilmslow

Landed in Manchester

Manchester. After a brief stop in Dubai we have a 6 hour flight to Manchester Airport. Plane in late at 1pm but day looks beautiful.

Bike assembly in sleep deprived state, although not feeling too bad. Frustrating issue of positioning the head set bearings on Michael’s bike correctly. Eventually we are on route to Wilmslow, our Airbnb stay. We recognise some of the exit route from a cycle video we have seen, but nothing is straightforward. Suddenly we are captivated by the sense of summer, green leafy lanes and warm air. Our guest house is welcoming. Host Diane has been under an umbrella out in garden with wine and friends. She surprises us a little by insisting we park our cycles in the breakfast room. Despite not wanting to spoil them, we obey.

In the late afternoon, we walk to the local village. It’s a couple of years since our last UK visit, but the range of high street stores look the same as for every small English town, with one or two fast food additions. We buy supplies for a  light dinner and wander back past an old stone church- unmistakably English. By 10, despite the fact that darkness has just descended, we are sound asleep.

Reassembly blues.
