South to London
Today it’s train down to London where our first engagement is “tea” with friends from my London teaching days, John and Monika in Hornsey. They keep active with walking, cycling and tennis, and are preparing for a charity walk in Penzance. After a catch up on family news, we catch the tube south.
Then to Wimbledon South on crowded trains and the chief navigator leads us to Melbourne Rd. Behind the uniform terraces we find a haven: Anne and Tom’s city garden of flowers, apple tree, grapes, tomatoes, and rows of vegetables.
We appreciate the renewal of friendships which began in our younger life and share our more recent stories.
