The Plan - A Loop in Southwestern Germany - CycleBlaze

The Plan

Such as it is

We will be leaving on Saturday, the day after tomorrow. We are far from ready yet but we will be!

We will fly from Vancouver to Frankfurt, from where we will immediately take a train to Ulm. My "colleague" (for want of a better word) Alex lives there and has offered to put us up for a night and store our bike boxes. Alex was a visiting professor at the BCIT where I work last fall, and I am to deliver a talk at the Biberach University of Applied Sciences (HBC) during my visit. Our institutions have a nascent exchange program and my intention is to learn a bit more about HBC.

We will be done in Biberach by Wednesday afternoon and will leave from there to ride back up to Ulm and then turn northeast to follow the Donau as far as Donauworth. We will then head more or less north along the Romantische Strasse toward Bamberg. Next, follow the Main River to Mainz, along the Rhine to Koblenz, up the Mosel to Trier ... Then we will see how much time we have left and work out a route back to Ulm. A train may or may not be involved.
