Day 45 Camping las Dunas

The morning is beautiful.

We climb Portezuelo de Quenlat Pass with views of the Quenlat Valley. This reminds us of the Icefield Parkway and Yosemite. Patrick takes the 200meter staircase to overlook the waterfall Salto Rio Padre Garcia. We have been travelling through Parque National Quenlat, 154,000-hectare Park of wilderness. It is said that 4000mm of rain per year falls on the park. At the summit though we have clear weather and dry the tent.

We cross the Rio Puente Cisnes and find the small kosk and campground for the night. The kiosk sells Te or Cafe and Kuchen. We are really dreaming of our end of the day snack of coca cola and potato chips. But the Kuchen really hits the spot.

The people from the hike to the hanging glacier stop just ahead of us and also camp for the night. They are from Valdivia and look to be the daughter driving the parents on vacation. The man takes Rachel's picture as we cycle up.

We set up camp and take a Ducha Caliente!! and fix supper of rice and champinones and tuna fish.

Today's ride: 45 km (28 miles)
Total: 1,931 km (1,199 miles)
