Day 18 Pucon: No volcano climb today

Camping Parque la Poza

The wind is strong all night. We are to climb the volcano today, but the wind is still strong.

We eat breakfast with a German couple also waiting for the ride to Pucon. We get a preview of the road we will cycle. At the turisimo office we evaluate the odds of reaching the top of the volcano because the wind is still blowing.

We decide to go back to Villarica, pack up and cycle back to Pucon and try again tomorrow for the climb. The ride is nice and quick. We find the campground and set up camp. There is a river running through the camp, nice trees and plants.

We visit with neighbors, an Australian couple from Perth. They had climbed the volcano, 50 meters from the top and had to turn around because of the wind.

We fix dinner of pork chops (chuleta) potatoes and corn. We get new neighbors from Germany, who will also climb the volcano tomorrow. They have an alarm clock and will wake us at 6am.

The wind is calm.
