Day 17 Rest Day in Villarica

La Torre Suiza

Rest day today.

We make us of Torre Suiza's laundry service for 2500P, we cannot wash a whole load by hand. Patrick does some work on our bikes, the fenders on both bikes have been beat up a bit. Nothing that some duct tape can't fix.

Patrick also patches the flat tubes. Later we walk to town, do some shopping and just sit in the cozy main room of our hostel, reading, then doing some errands.

The hostel owner, Beat, has a mind toy that he once made in metal working class (he did not design it himself though). This toy drives Patrick crazy, to put it back together. Patrick diagrams the toy out in the journal and thinks maybe once home, he can build it out of wood.

Tomorrow, we want to climb the Volcano Villarica. We have booked a tour and will be picked up at 630am. Today the mountain looks beautiful, there are no clouds in the sky. But there is a strong wind that keeps four Frenchmen in our hostel from making it to the summit. They say they had to turn back halfway.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
