Day 15 Metrenco: Rain and first flat

Camping Los Hermitos

Today there are dark clouds blowing over head by a sturdy southwestern wind.

We put on our raincoats and pull our covers over the pannier bags. During a little downhill, Patrick hits a big rock and immediately feels his rear wheel wobble. In the pouring rain he changes the tube, only to discover that this tube is also leaking, it was not a new tube. He changes this one and off we go.

The landscape is getting prettier, rolling green hills, forests and bright yellow mustard fields. We reach Temuco by noon, stop at the first supermarket to re-supply. Through Temuco, we eat our first "completo" (hot dog) at a shell station. Only a few km further is Metrenco, where there should be a nice campground per our Entell guide. Patrick is disappointed only to find a restaurant, the camping closed some time ago.

But for 4000 pesos the woman will let us camp in the back yard and use her shower and bathroom.

Today's ride: 77 km (48 miles)
Total: 726 km (451 miles)
