Week 15: to Gori: Happy 20th Wedding Anniversary

What a great way to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, seems only fitting that we are cycling. We met in 1993 outside Nelson New Zealand, each of us cycling alone when our paths crossed.

We still cycle alone....together, our cycling styles and stamina being so different. Patrick carries the heavier stuff to slow him down, Rachel the lighter bulkier stuff, so that we stay together, except on the hills...Rachel is not a very fast hill climber but is tenacious. Patrick gives Rachel a head start, usually passes and then waits at the top.

We've had a great 20 years together!

The first twenty km out of Borjormi are very nice, following a gorge, some overcast and light rain.

Time to oil the chains so it is easier to clean them in Tbilisi.

Just outside of Gori, a truckstop with some remarkable concrete architecture. Don't look too close at the detailing though......

Gori is the birthplace of Joseph Stalin. Destiny picked this place to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We are wearing the shirts worn on our 5 week honeymoon bike tour...with the 20 years added.
