To Rabenstein: trying to avoid the hills of the Ertz-gebirge

Ronny and Anke give us advice on our route today, staying further north, and east. We head for a campground in Rabenstein. Anke gives a map of Mongolia that had been given to them and used on their (and one year old son) 2 and 1/2 year bike trip in 2004. We promise to send the map back.

One stretch of road weaved through woods, the bike path next to the road, and a mountain bike track next to the bike path. One final hill to the campground, Patrick buys beer and potato chips at the reception and we find a nice place for our tent. We've passed the 1000kms mark today, cycling 10 of the past 11 days. We are ready for a rest day.

We cannot completely avoid the hills, but turning our route a little further north helps a lot.

Rabenstein Castle. A beautiful campground is located just behind it.
