to Darende: let's get there by noon!

Happy Ramadan! In 2006, we started our trip in Bali, Indonesia and when we got to Java, Ramadan had started. Then it was more obvious than in Turkey, so far. In Indonesia we had trouble finding food during the day. With millions of people fasting, our psyches were affected and we lost our appetites. Not until we reached Samosir island on Sumatra, and had pork schnitzel did the appetites return. Interesting how at the beginning of this trip starting in Holland and across Germany, pork schnitzel is what we ate most.

Today was a short day with one pass of a 200 meter climb and a great downhill with a few bumps to get over, we reach town before noon with a half rest day.

Looks a lot like Wyoming out here.

Except for the minaret popping up above just about every village.

Colorful wild flowers along the road. There are beautiful orange and red poppies.

The Darende Hotel we are staying tonight. We are early and our room isn't yet cleaned. The owner installs us across the street to have some chai. Half an hour later we move in.
