Day 13: Still exploring Marrakesh

Packing to move on tomorrow

Tomorrow we will head out toward the Atlas Mountains. We may have a cycleblaze meetup near Dades Gorge with Susan Carpenter on her Three, Two, One...Tour. Her itinerary is set, and ours isn't as flexible to changes as in the past tours. We will keep an eye out for each other.

We walk outside the Medina walls to find the Bahia Palace. At an intersection, we stop to have tea and watch the direction the tour groups are going. We see a sign indicating the direction of the Palace.

The mint and sugar are already in the teapot and the tea is poured from a height.

As Tom Petty says, "It's good to be King," Patrick comments as we are touring the Bahia Palace. "Bahia meaning brilliance in Arabic, is perhaps one of the best-preserved historical sites and certainly most interesting in Marrakech. Built between 1866 and 1867 by Si Moussa, the Bahia palace is set over two acres in the middle of the Marrakech medina and features 150 rooms, including a harem section located just off the sun-filled Court of Honour." Bahia Palace

The decorations are a combination of intricate paintings on wood, carvings in stone and mosaics.

Andrea BrownI always come out of places like this with a neck-ache from gazing upward. This was just splendid.
