Day 2 Celebrate Trails Day: contiuning on the Weiser River Trail

No wind today

Today is Celebrate Trails Day. We wake to honking geese rather than crowing roosters. We continue riding the Weiser River Trail to Cambridge.

It's cold this morning and we pack up and start riding by 730am. Our goal is to reach Midvale and maybe have a second breakfast if there is a cafe. Our first breakfast is lean with breakfast bars and hot water. We are carrying food for the trail and our camp food is in Jon's van in Cambridge.

Beautiful morning

The mile markers made of spikes helps to track our progress, there is no wind this morning.

At 1030, we are sitting in the Country Coffee Cabin in Midvale for breakfast. There are plenty of locals also in the cafe and we overhear discussions between BBQ caterers.   There is a big NRA event they are getting ready to cater.

The riding goes better today without the wind.

We enjoy the beauty of Idaho. We also agree that this trail is best in Spring or Fall and dry conditions. The rain from a few days ago have made the trail muddy in spots.

There are gates along the trail. Some have tracks around the side of the gate. Some are closed with a looped chain. The rule of the land is to leave the gate as you find it.

We arrive at Mundo Hot Springs at 130pm. The group is out on a ride to Council. We check in and find we can go in for a soak between 2 and 4. We quickly pitch the tent, change into our suits, shower and relax in the hot water.

The group arrives back to camp around 4pm after riding to Council for lunch. We are happy to find out we didn't miss out on Dave's Chili dinner, there is still plenty for tonight.

Mileage today: 26 miles
